Meet Your New Vendor Relations Manager
Twenty-three years ago, Jack Kerr took his first job in the waste industry. After serving as a sales representative, safety supervisor, district, and regional manager for Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc. headquartered in Cincinnati, he made a change. In 2008, Kerr accepted the vendor relations manager position with The WiIliam-Thomas Group.
Kerr's mission will include strengthening relationships with members of the Haul Pass Network. Kerr says he is very excited about this new opportunity, but recognizes the new position will have its challenges. He will have to maximize his travel time. "I want to physically visit as many haulers as possible," said Kerr. Providing clear, concise information and answers to any questions will come standard with the services Kerr added.
"I also want to ensure all vendor profiles are kept accurate and up-to-date. We need to be aware of any new lines of business or service areas so that we can ensure they receive every potential bidding opportunity," adds Kerr.
Finally, Kerr wants to facilitate a system to help members of the Haul Pass Network connect to cultivate idea sharing and to provide additional assistance. Overall, Kerr and the WTG team want to use this vendor relations position to create a positive impact translating into business growth for member haulers, and The William-Thomas Group.
Kerr has already begun visiting haulers. During his early visits he has witnessed the commitment to quality service that differentiates private and family-owned operations from national and international publicly-owned companies. Other observations include overwhelming requests from customers for more recycling options, the necessity to reduce operational expenses and most importantly that company owners are motivated and are looking for ways for WTG to help them grow.
When Kerr isn't on the road visiting members of the Haul Pass Network, he is at the Salvation Army in Columbus, OH serving as a volunteer for their weekend feeding program for the homeless.
If you haven't had an opportunity to meet Kerr, you will. He will contact you soon to schedule a visit, but if you have a question or concern in the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact him at (614) 554-3407 or at jack.kerr@william-thomasgroup.com.
